How to Muslim App

Privacy Policy

The short version: nothing you do in the app leaves your device. No account, no ads, and no analytics inside the app.

Last updated: 18 September 2026

How to Muslim (the app) is published by How to Muslim (howtomuslim.org). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version: the app does not collect, store or transmit any personal information. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics inside the app. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.

Our websites are a separate matter. howtomuslim.org, guide.howtomuslim.org and app.howtomuslim.org use Google Analytics, as most websites do. If you use How to Muslim in a browser, see Using How to Muslim in a browser below.

Information stored on your device

The app saves the following locally, using your device's standard app storage. It is never sent anywhere, and it is removed when you uninstall the app:

Location

If you turn on adhkār reminders and grant location permission, the app reads your device location once and uses it only to calculate local prayer times for scheduling those reminders. The coordinates are stored on your device so it does not have to ask again. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. If you decline location access, reminders use fixed clock times instead, and the app never requests your location.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely by your device's operating system. We do not operate a push server and cannot send you messages.

Network requests

When you have an internet connection, the app makes these requests:

These requests carry only what any web request carries (such as your IP address, handled by those sites under their own policies). The app sends no identifiers, no usage data and nothing about you.

Using How to Muslim in a browser

The app also runs as a website at app.howtomuslim.org. Everything the app itself does works the same way there: your tasbih count, streak, “Start Here” progress, language, theme and settings are saved in your browser’s own storage and are never sent to us.

The website around it uses Google Analytics (GA4), the same as our other sites. It sets cookies and records the ordinary things a website measures — which pages were opened, roughly which country the visit came from, and what kind of device and browser were used. It does not tell us who you are, and it cannot see your duas, your counts or your progress, because those never leave your browser.

Analytics is off until you allow it. The bar that appears on your first visit sets the choice, and nothing is stored until you answer: choosing “No thanks” leaves Google Analytics switched off and sets no cookies at all. We ask again after six months.

To change your mind at any time, reopen the cookie choice. If you would rather not be measured at all, the installed app from the App Store or Google Play has no analytics of any kind, and a tracker-blocking browser or extension stops it here too.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
